Welcome to our list of workshops which begin at the end of August.
Hopefully there is something to inspire you whether you are
a complete beginner or more experienced in the subject.
Samples are on display so please call in to our classroom to take a look;
there is always someone on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Booking a class is easy: please read all of the information at the end of the programme and if you are happy with the conditions,
you can call in to the shop or pick up the telephone.
We are open Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm and Saturdays 9am-5pm.

PROGRAMME  OF  WORKSHOPS

PATCHWORK COURSE –‘Endless Possibilities’
Using the simple Half-Square Triangle Technique, make yourself a quilt in your own combination of colours. The design would work equally well as a children’s quilt, a romantic, floral quilt, or stunning with a black background.
The course takes place over six Friday mornings beginning

PATCHWORK AND QUILTING COURSE
During this six week course, there is a choice of two quilts for you to make, - the beautiful bargello patchwork quilt or a mystery quilt. This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced patchworker and takes place over six Monday mornings beginning

DECOUPAGE GREETINGS CARDS
Covering a host of subjects from fairies to florals, these die-cut, press out sheets take the pain out of decoupage as there is no more intricate cutting out.

TUESDAY NIGHT STITCHERS
Whether it is cross stitch, beading, knitting or patchwork that is your passion, join us on the first Tuesday of the month for a productive natter. Bring along your current project, there is no structured tuition, but plenty of help is available.

PFAFF EMBROIDERY GROUP
For those of you with Pfaff embroidery machines, we will meet on the first Wednesday of the month for three months to try new ideas and experiment with different techniques beginning with embroidery for bags.

TWELVE HOUR PATCHWORK MARATHON
Another chance to join The Strip Club! Make a quilt using either the Moda Jelly Rolls, Charm Packs or the new Layer Cakes. The cost includes supper at Goodliffe’s Bistro.

SEWING ON SATURDAY
We all have projects we would like to finish, so come and spend a day completing them.
General help and advice is available, and the kettle is on all day!

KNIT & NATTER EVENING
Tonight, we have been asked to have a second go at felting for jewellery and embellishment.. Alternatively, you can bring along your knitting and crochet problems, or just enjoy a relaxing evening with coffee and cakes included.

EXPLORING BEADING TECHNIQUES – CUFFS
This course takes place over four consecutive Thursday mornings and you will be making beaded cuffs, each very different with a new technique each week. The course begins on

BEADING AFTER DARK
A repeat of the above Beading Course for those of you who prefer to come in the evenings. The course takes place over four consecutive Thursday evenings beginning

PATCHWORK MARATHON – Twist and Turn
A really simple quilt, speedily made, using just three fabrics. Choose a stunning fabric for the background, and co-ordinate with two more. The cost includes supper at Goodliffe’s Bistro.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR EMBROIDERY MACHINE
For ladies who have bought a Pfaff 2124 or 2134 this year, we will go through the basics of embroidery, using stabilisers and transferring designs through your reader/writer.

MACHINE APPLIQUE COURSE
Make a colourful patchwork quilt for the lovely child in your life. The girl’s quilt is covered in butterflies and flowers, and embellished with embroidery stitches, and the boy’s alternative is trucks and trains. These quilts can be adapted in size for a cot or a bed and are a delight. The course takes place over four Tuesday afternoons beginning

BEADING WITH CRYSTALS AND CUBES
After making a Right Angle Weave base, fill the bracelet and/or necklace with crystals and cubes…sounds complicated, but it really isn’t.

THE BIG BAG
We made this bag on the last programme, and could have filled the course several times so we promised to repeat it. Big, and so stylish, perfect for shopping, holidays or just your knitting.

PFAFF EMBROIDERY GROUP
Exploring Software. The educator from Pfaff VSM will be with us for the day showing the endless possibilities of the software for your embroidery machines. You will, of course be able to try the different techniques.

GETTING A HEAD START FOR CHRISTMAS WITH GREETINGS CARDS
It is never too early to start your making your cards and gift tags. Using different techniques and materials, join us for the day to make cards for the special people in your lives.

PATCHWORK QUILLOW

TWISTED HERRINGBONE BEADING
Using two types of herringbone stitch, make an elegant twisted tube necklace and a flattering cuff.

BEAUTIFUL BUCKET BAG
For those of you who struggle to come to daytime classes, we are repeating this popular bag class in the evening. A fabulous bag with a designer touch. The addition of the ribbon bow and the secure drawstring lining make this a ‘Must Have’ item.

Box making workshops are always popular and this will be no exception. Use stunning fabrics and it would make a lovely gift filled with sweets.

BEADING FOR THE WEEKEND
Join us for two days of beading indulgence. On the Saturday morning you will make a charm bracelet, in the afternoon a zigzag necklace using daisy chain stitch, and on the Sunday explore the possibilities of tubular knitted mesh which together with chain, cord and wire, you will make a necklace, bracelet and pin.
Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th October, 10am-4pm both days.

FEATURE FABRIC PATCHWORK
There are endless possibilities when using border fabrics or fabric repeats and a clever Dresden Plate template. You can make a cloth or runner for your table, or embark on a quilt, the choice is yours.

Using either Christmas fabrics or colours to co-ordinate with your décor, we will make these table mats and an octagonal table centre.

PATCHWORK SAMPLER QUILT
An ideal quilt for those of you who are new to patchwork, or anyone with more experience who would like to brush up on their techniques. The unusual layout creates a quilt with a difference, and each week will be different. This course takes place over eight Friday mornings beginning

STACK ‘N’ SHUFFLE PATCHWORK QUILT
Over the course of this weekend, you will make a very easy quilt by layering fabrics, cutting through the pile, shuffling the fabrics and re-assembling them!  Great fun and very satisfying.

FAST2FUSE FOR CHRISTMAS

BEADING MARATHON
Peyote stitch and wirework, a more advanced course for those of you with beading experience. Combine the two techniques and make a freestyle cuff. Later, make a necklace worked in square stitch embellished with wire swirls, flowers and leaves.

2, FULL PAYMENT IS DUE ON BOOKING, however if you book four  
or more workshops you can pay 50% of the fee with the balance
being paid fourteen days before the workshop takes place.

3, FEES cover the cost of tuition and there is complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.

4, CANCELLATIONS. Workshop fees are refundable if you can give at least fourteen days notice.

5, CANCELLATIONS. We reserve the right to cancel any workshop and will endeavour to give as much notice as possible. We will of course refund the relevant workshop fees.

6, COPYRIGHT. All workshop patterns and designs remain the Property of Quorn Country Crafts and must not be used by individuals for financial gain or otherwise

STITCHING ON A THURSDAY AFTERNOON
We have a weekly ‘drop-in’ session on a Thursday afternoon from 1.30pm-3.30pm, so if you enjoy sewing, knitting or beading and would like a cup of tea and a chat with like-minded people, please call in and bring along your latest project. It is a friendly and informal group with no teaching, however there is always plenty of help and encouragement.

 

We are happy to arrange group visits ‘out of hours’.
If you belong to a patchwork and quilting group, or knitting, beading or general craft group, we can arrange a visit to our shop either on a Sunday or in the evening, as long as there are sufficient numbers. Please contact the shop for more information. We can also arrange workshops, demonstrations and talks at a venue of your choosing, distance permitting.

do not stipulate sizes. This is because they can usually be made to a size of your choice, from one ideal for a throw to a king size…
you can be as ambitious as  you choose.

Attached is a basic ‘kit list’ but it will still be worth you contacting
us for more specific details.

Our fabric suppliers suggest that all fabrics should be washed and pressed  before using them and if you wish to take this advice, and so as not to encroach on your workshop time, please call in to the  shop a few days before your course begins to purchase the fabrics; we can then spend time helping you with your choice and colour co-ordination.
